#DKC2026
A week at Derby Kids’ Camp is jam-packed with adventure – but every adventure starts with a full tummy!
Our kids on camp burn some serious energy, fuelled by three hearty, home-cooked meals a day: a big breakfast, a tasty lunch, and a filling dinner (plus pudding!), topped up with an occasional campfire cocoa and biscuits.
This summer, we’re facing a funding shortfall in our food budget – and we need your help to fill the hole (and some tummies!)
The numbers
Over 300 kids and 200 volunteers join us each summer. To keep everyone warm, well-fed and ready for adventure, our incredible kitchen-under-canvas teams serve more than 9,000 home-cooked meals each summer – all for just £6.80 per child, per day!
So whether you can support us with just a small dougnation, perhaps a partial celery sacrifice? You don’t have to be minted to help – whatever you can chip in, we’d relish your support!

Straight to the kids. We’re an entirely volunteer-run charity, so there are no staff overheads to pay.
We purchase all our fresh food from local producers and suppliers – a butcher, dairy farm and fruit and veg supplier. So as well as feeding the kids with nutritious, high-quality food, your money will make its way back into our local economy.
Just £6.80 a day. For that amount, we focus on making sure the meals provided are high-quality, nutritious and filling – as well as being yummy!
We have a range of hearty, home-cooked meals to keep hungry mouths satisfied!
Breakfast consists of a choice of cereal, followed up by something hot each day.
If we’re out and about, we’ll take a picnic lunch of sandwiches, crisps, fruit and a sweet treat. On-site lunches include wraps with salad and fillings, or something hot.
Our hearty dinners fill the kids up after a big day of adventures – and make sure they’ve got plenty of energy to keep warm and cosy in the evenings on camp! Dinners regularly include a Sunday roast, sausage and mash, curry, burgers, pasta and a party night tea. We’ll provide puddings such as crumble and custard, jelly, ice cream and sponge cake.
Our brilliant cook teams (who, like everyone else, are residential volunteers) work their magic in our well-equipped on-site cook tent. There are no microwaves, no shortcuts – just proper home-cooked goodness three times a day!
With over 300 kids and 200 volunteers staying with us each summer, our cook teams provide more than 9,000 delicious meals each summer. (That’s a lot of washing up!)
We’d really appreciate you sharing our campaign with anyone you think may be able to help.
If you’d like to do even more, there are regular opportunities to volunteer with the charity, support one of our other projects or fundraise for us. Please get in touch if you’d like to find out more.
